An individual who contaminated sweets with sedative and distributed them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two boys who were nine and ten years old.
The accused was detained after eight children and one adult became sick at Stathern Lodge in July.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.
Nevertheless, he disputed one particular crime he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.
The accused was remanded in custody ahead of a subsequent court date on late November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, detailed the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.
Ruben played a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had worries in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "In the summer" his stepson had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.
"They resolved" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC stated objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and injection devices were found, and his family member alerted the law enforcement about his worries.
She stated the man went on to play the "sweet game" with six youngsters that evening - that Saturday - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"The police had not arrived by that stage," she continued.
The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
Mrs Prior said the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member notified the police again.
She stated Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
