Police mentioned they were alerted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Officers say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they added.

Officers then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis show the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.

A high-ranking political figure said the vandalism made him without words and required to be resolved quickly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
